We have this policy in Iowa, where when you buy beverages in cans and some bottles, you pay an 5¢ extra for each one. When you take them back, the store redeems them, or buys them back for 5¢. That's "redeem" - to buy back.
That's what God did for us - he bought us back. We're worth more than a nickel, though. Jesus thinks we're valuable enough to die for and every time we go to Mass, our redemption is there to be re-lived.
So, let's start doing mass different.
Let's start praying the mass not by looking at the window (watching the altar), but by looking through the window, and finding the sacrifice, the ransom and the love God has for us.
