Am I the only one who would read "sacrifice of conciliation," decide that the word "conciliation" probably means something like reconciliation and go on?
Something made me go back, and I'm so glad I did. In Latin, the word used for conciliation is placationis, it means pacify.
"Receive, O Lord, the sacrifice of conciliation and praise" - that's what we pray with the priest over the offerings this week. What can you offer God to pacify his burning love for you? (Hint: He wants you!)
